Grand finale at Huntington WV sing
Happy 55th! The Gospel Harmony Boys held their final 55 Year Anniversary Reunion Concert in the Huntington City Auditorium on November 10. The venue and the concert program were arranged to recall the great "All-Star Gospel Concert" series that was sponsored by the Gospel Harmony Boys in the 1960s and 1970s. Even the $3.00 and $5.00 ticket prices were reminiscent of those early promotions. The first price for these concerts was actually $3.50.
The Charleston Daily Mail and Huntington Herald Dispatch printed full and half page articles, with full color photos, outlining the group's history and promoting the concert. The 700+ fans who attended the evening's event enjoyed the entire 4 hour concert and most were still in attendance and applauding for encores as the program ended near midnight.
Future reunion concert events may be in the mill as The City of Huntington Foundation and many of the friends who came to enjoy the concert have suggested making it an annual event. Consideration may be given to a weekend event combined with a dinner, golf outing, glass plant tours, river cruises, talent contests or other exciting activities. Keep visiting the web page to learn of future developments.
Speaking of our anniversary sings, we still have some 55th anniversary commemorative albums available. These books were specially made for this year's past anniversary sings, and can be ordered here. We think it will make a nice keepsake item for any of you GHB fans who weren't able to make it to one the sings, or for those of you who would just like an extra copy.
Following the successful radio release of our title cut from our I Believe CD, we have released another song from that recording: Grandma's Graduation Day. This is a Harmony Boys' classic, written by Clacy himself. Based on a true story about a very special lady, Clacy's own grandmother, and the wonderful events surrounding her home-going celebration, it's an upbeat tune, with a positive message. We sincerelry request your continued support in phoning your local stations to request our songs. Watch for more on this great new release.
A word from the web master
The Boys have had a web presence now for almost three years, and the site has been a wonderful tool to expand their ministry. We hope the site has been informative, entertaining, and a pleasure for you to visit each time. I personally invite you to offer suggestions as we continue to upgrade in the coming months. What works well for you? What could be improved? How do we rate compared to similar sites? Please let your voice be heard.
