After three years of dormancy, the name Gospel Harmony Boys was revived on New Year's Eve 2004. GHB veterans Jack Hanks, Steve Black and Clacy Williams, with Vince Owens at the piano instituted a new group called the River City Boys in 1999
They were later joined by another GHB legend Calvin Thompson to sing bass. After the departure of Jack and Steve, Dale Chambers came to sing lead and Rusty Ballinger became the baritone. The new group was doing well but several GHB alumni kept suggesting that they assume the old group moniker.

All that was left was adoption of the name. After much encouragement, the decision was made
Essentially, The River City Boys had continued to honor the great standards and traditions that the Harmony Boys began under the leadership of Harold Lane, Homer Fry, Sonny Sites, Harold Patrick and so many others before them. All that was left was adoption of the name. After much encouragement, the decision was made and the GHBs were officially revived on December 31, 2004.
This article appeared in the Huntington Herald-Dispatch on that New Year's Eve announcing the re-arrival of the GHBs on the gospel music scene.
Hopefully you will have the opportunity to visit each of the items on the web page, but be sure to visit the GHB shop and listen to some of the cuts from their current recordings. Also visit the Review of their latest recording by gospel music critic, Sandi Duncan Clark of The Southern Gospel Forum. We believe you'll agree with Sandi that the new GHBs are holding high the expectations and standards of their ancestry as men of integrity, talent and service.
