Michael Bloomfield

Michael Bloomfield

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of our dear brother, Michael Bloomfield, who died September 3, 2009. Michael was diagnosed with H1N1 virus ("swine flu"), and is the first recorded victim of this disease in West Virginia, where he lived.

Michael, as many of you doubltess know, was piano player and arranger extraordinaire for the Gospel Harmony Boys through much of the 1970's, '80's, and 90's. Much of the smooth, modern harmonies characterizing our unique sound was due to his talents. He continued to work with us on our projects, producing, consulting, and providing his expertise in all areas of our musical ministry.

We cannot do justice to our friend's memory in the few days since his passing, but we post this notice for now, and this link to an article reprinted in our area by WOWK TV news, out of Charleston, WV. In the coming days, we hope to raise a more fitting tribute on this site, but we know Michael's true legacy lives on through his music.

God bless you, Mike, as you stand in His very real Presence, and thank you for your service to the Gospel Harmony Boys. You will be missed.

We sincerely ask the continued prayers of our friends for Mike's family during this time of sadness.

And, if you never had the privilege of seeing Michael perform with the GHBs, or would just like to relive some extremely happy and joyful moments, we have added some precious video clips for your enjoyment. Click here to access our videos page.

Our founder, Harold Lane, has finally been inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame, in Pigeon Forge, TN. Many of you wrote and voiced your support for Harold, and we rejoice with him that this honor is being bestowed upon him. The Gospel Harmony Boys will perform at the induction ceremony, which is included on our schedule page.

Congratulations, Harold! You richly deserve this high honor.

CD: Convention Style

Our brand new CD is available, and it's filled with the music our fans best love: old-time, convention style, quartet singing. It's called, appropriately enough, "The Gospel Harmony Boys Sing Convention Style". See? You can't mistake it for another one! You can check out samples of all the tracks here

Until next time, God Bless
